Ruby Intelligence

This policy covers rubyintelligencellc.com and the games published by Ruby Intelligence LLC, on iPhone and iPad through the App Store and on Android through Google Play. Where the two platforms work differently, we say so. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than the usual fog.

The short version: our games are free and paid for by advertising. To show those ads, Google collects information about your device, and depending on your settings it may use that information to personalise what you see. You can turn personalisation off at any time, and we explain how below.

Who we are

Ruby Intelligence LLC, 7831 Nolensville Road, Arrington, Tennessee 37014, United States. We are the party responsible for the information described here. Reach us at support@rubyintelligencellc.com.

What we collect ourselves

Your game progress and settings are stored on your own device. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, address, or date of birth.

In Synapse Neural Puzzle there is no account and no cloud sync at all. Levels solved, Neurons, purchases, and settings live on the phone and nowhere else, which also means that deleting the game deletes them and we cannot restore them for you.

If you email us for support, we keep your message and your email address so we can answer you and follow up if the same problem comes back.

If you make a purchase inside a game, the store you downloaded it from takes the payment: Apple on iPhone and iPad, Google Play on Android. To work out what you're entitled to, the game uses RevenueCat, a service that checks the store's record of the purchase and keeps track of what you've bought. That means a record of your purchases exists outside your device: an identifier the app generates for you, which is not your name or your email address, together with what was bought and when. Neither we nor RevenueCat ever see your card number or billing address.

Where a game offers a paid subscription, the same service holds whether that subscription is currently active, so the game knows to keep giving you what you paid for. Nothing else about you is attached to it, and you cancel a subscription through your Apple Account or your Google Play account rather than through us.

Advertising

Our games show ads supplied by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure those ads, Google and its advertising partners collect information from your device, including:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone and iPad this is the IDFA; on Android it is Google's advertising ID)
  • Your IP address, and the approximate location it implies, usually no more precise than your city or region
  • Device and software details such as model, operating system version, language, and screen size
  • Information about the ads themselves, including which ones were shown, how long they were visible, and whether you tapped one

Where you have allowed it, this information can be used to build a profile of your interests and to show you ads based on your activity across other apps and websites. Where you have not allowed it, Google serves non-personalised ads, which are chosen from the content of the game and rough context rather than your history. Non-personalised ads still involve some data collection for frequency capping, measurement, and fraud prevention.

None of this applies while a Neural Pro subscription is active. Neural Pro removes advertising from Synapse entirely, and a game with no ads to show makes no ad requests, so Google receives nothing from it.

Google's use of this information is governed by its own policies. You can read how Google handles data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Who we share information with

Two companies receive information from inside our games, and no others.

Google, for the advertising described above.

RevenueCat, which handles purchases and subscriptions on our behalf. What it receives is an anonymous identifier the app generates, your purchase and subscription history, whether a subscription is currently active, and your device type and country. It does not receive your name, your email address, or any payment details. RevenueCat processes this only on our instructions and for no purpose of its own; its policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple or Google Play also sits in the middle of every purchase, depending on where you got the game, because the store takes the payment. The chain is: the store charges you, RevenueCat checks the store's record of the purchase and records what you're entitled to, and the game unlocks it. We are told what was bought. We are never told how you paid.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or abuse of our games. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not share it with data brokers.

Your choices

You have real control over the advertising described above. How you use it depends on your device.

On iPhone and iPad

On first launch, iOS asks whether you'll allow us to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Choosing "Ask App Not to Track" means the advertising identifier is not made available, and the ads you see will not be personalised.

To change your mind later, open Settings on your device, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking, and switch the game off or on. You can also turn off tracking for every app at once from that screen.

To start fresh, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Apple Advertising, and reset your advertising identifier. Existing profiles built against the old identifier no longer follow you.

On Android

Android doesn't ask on first launch. Google's advertising ID is available to apps unless you've reset or deleted it, so the controls are in your device settings.

To start fresh, open Settings, then Privacy, then Ads, and reset your advertising ID. Existing profiles built against the old ID no longer follow you.

To stop it being used at all, go to the same screen and delete your advertising ID. Apps then receive no identifier, and the ads you see will not be personalised. On some devices this screen is under Settings, then Google, then Ads instead.

On either platform

To remove advertising completely, Synapse offers a paid subscription, Neural Pro. While it's active no ads of any kind are requested, so none of the collection described above happens at all. The terms of use set out what it costs and how to cancel it.

If you're in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland

Before any personalised advertising happens, we ask for your consent through a consent management platform certified by Google, as its EU User Consent Policy requires. You can decline, in which case you'll see non-personalised ads instead.

You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from the "Ad privacy options" row in the game's settings screen, and your choice takes effect immediately. That row appears where Google's consent platform says it's required, so if you don't see it, it's because no consent choice applies to you.

Our legal basis for personalised advertising is your consent. Our legal basis for the limited processing involved in non-personalised advertising, fraud prevention, and measurement is our legitimate interest in running a game that pays for itself.

If you're in California

We do not sell your personal information. However, allowing Google to use your advertising identifier for personalised advertising may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can opt out of that sharing on iPhone and iPad by declining the tracking prompt, or by switching this game off under Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking; on Android, by deleting your advertising ID under Settings, Privacy, Ads. We treat those device settings as a valid opt-out request and we do not discriminate against anyone who uses it.

California residents also have the right to know what we've collected, to have it deleted, and to have it corrected. Email us to exercise any of these.

Children

Our games are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@rubyintelligencellc.com and we will delete it.

Where users in the EEA or UK are below the age of digital consent, we instruct Google not to request consent and not to serve personalised ads to them.

This website

Our web host records standard server logs, including IP addresses and which pages were requested, to keep the site running and to fend off abuse. This site carries no advertising, no advertising cookies, and no cross-site trackers.

How long we keep things

Support emails are kept for up to two years, then deleted. Game data stored on your device stays there until you delete the game. Purchase and subscription records held through RevenueCat are kept while the entitlement they describe could still matter, and are deleted on request. Server logs are kept for a short retention window set by our host. Advertising data held by Google is subject to Google's own retention periods, which we don't control.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@rubyintelligencellc.com with "data" in the subject line and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're covered by the GDPR, you also have the right to object to processing, to request a portable copy of your data, and to complain to your national data protection authority.

Where your information goes

We're based in the United States, and the services we rely on โ€” Google and RevenueCat โ€” process information there. If you're in the EEA or the UK, that means your information may be transferred outside your home country. Both rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms for these transfers.

Security

We keep the information we hold ourselves to a minimum, which is the most effective protection available. What we do hold is stored on services that use encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes will be announced in the game or on this site before they take effect.
